Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme

What is CHAS?

The CHAS health and safety assessment scheme is a pre-approval scheme to allow contractors to show potential clients that they meet the required health and safety standards.

The main purpose of CHAS was to avoid repeated applications by suppliers and contractors to become approved as local authority suppliers and to improve health and safety in small to medium sized businesses. Whilst the CHAS assessment scheme is a local authority and government backed scheme, it has become the standard for the construction industry looking to short list suppliers and contractors and can save time and money for all parties.

Many of our Clients have seen the amount of tenders won and turnover and increase dramatically since attaining CHAS

How do I become CHAS approved?

The standards have been improved on again in 2010 and the assessment is rigourous. The attainment of the accreditation cannot be achieved overnight, but if you have good safety systems and training in place, it should not take too long. But, beware CHAS is not for everyone, and we won’t take you on unless you are fully committed to achieving the standard, in short we won’t take your money for you to fail.
If for instance your staff are not CSCS approved for the construction Industry, or you have no qualified First Aiders, the chance of you getting CHAS is remote without assistance.

SIS Ltd has assisted over 30 companies to achieve CHAS and has been the single Chas provider for Sysco Management Consultants over the past few years. Taking into account all of the above, why not enquire now & download our CHAS info pack for what we can offer you.
